The masking set 1:72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc from the Peewit brand. An accessory for painting a model; it is neither a kit nor a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a modeling accessory. The set from the Peewit brand in 1:72 scale holds pre-shaped self-adhesive masks with which the surfaces that are to stay clean are covered before spraying, typically the cockpit glazing. Kits from other makers exist under the same name, but this item holds no plastic model.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerously built version of the British single-seat fighter. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12, on the Mk.V variant in versions tailored to different altitude regimes. The letter c in the designation Mk.Vc refers to what is called the universal wing, which made it possible to fit various combinations of armament without touching the structure. A number of machines used in the Mediterranean and in North Africa carried a bulky dust filter under the nose, which markedly changes the silhouette of the aircraft. The cockpit of the Spitfire has fairly small glazing with prominent frames, so masking is worth some attention.
Wash the glazing and let it dry out thoroughly. Place the masks with tweezers, press the edges down all the way around and only then spray. It pays to spray the frames first in the interior shade, then in the base color and finally in the top finish, so that no other color shows through from inside. With British camouflage schemes with soft transitions work at low pressure and with well thinned paint. Take the masks off soon after the paint has dried.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The plastic model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. We recommend checking the fit with your kit before buying.
