An injection-molded plastic kit of a railroad car in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer UM (UniModels). The subject is a two-axle pilot car roughly 9.2 m long, which ran at the head of a formation to safeguard its passage and to protect it against planted charges.
Pilot cars were placed ahead of the locomotive in armored train formations. When the train ran onto damaged track or a trap, they protected the valuable locomotive and the armored cars. They also served to carry the material needed to repair the track.
Use liquid cement for plastic and cut the tiny parts of the chassis and the axles away carefully. Consider adding brake and coupling gear. Rust and dust shades, washes in the riveted gaps and fine pigments on the running gear suit the patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
