The M1 Abrams is an American main battle tank that forms the backbone of the armored units of the United States. The main weapon of the M1A2 version is a 120 mm smoothbore gun, the propulsion is provided by a gas turbine and the crew consists of four men. The SEP designation stands for System Enhancement Program, that is, a modernization program aimed mainly at the electronics, the observation instruments and the protection of the crew.
A plastic kit in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, the parts are held on plastic sprues and it is built according to the enclosed instructions. The range of parts, the overview of marking options and the recommended colors are given on the box and in the instructions.
Separate the parts with sprue nippers a little away from the part and sand the remainder, so that the surfaces seat without a gap. Use a glue intended for plastic models. In 1:72 scale every excess of material shows, so it pays to thin down the thin features and to check the fit dry. Do not glue the turret to the hull permanently until you have the running gear painted. Liven up the basic single-color finish with a lighter shade on the upper surfaces, a dark wash into the recesses and drybrushing on the edges; fine dust around the running gear then settles the whole model into the terrain.
The kit suits collectors of modern military equipment who build in 1:72 scale and want to add a present-day American tank to a display case or a diorama. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
