A resin detail accessory in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer GasPatch models. It is not a model of an aircraft but a set of castings of the British aviation Vickers machine gun in the Hyland Type E form. The name of the set gives two pieces in two variants, standard and mirrored. Such a pair suits installations in which the weapons stand side by side and their controls face opposite ways.
The Vickers was a British machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber whose aviation version used air cooling and a jacket with holes. On fighters of the First World War period it was mounted fixed on the fuselage. Where a machine carried two weapons, mirrored pieces were used for better access to the controls. That is exactly what this set refers to.
With a mirrored pair it is essential to keep an eye on the orientation. As soon as you unpack them, tell the two parts apart, for example by labeling them on the casting block or putting them in two numbered compartments. Once the block is cut off the variants are hard to tell apart and a mix-up is visible on the finished model. Check dry that the controls of both pieces face outward, and only then glue. Fit both parts in one sitting so that their relative position and the angle of the barrels come out symmetrical. Finally check that the barrels are parallel by looking from the front at eye level.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
