The 1:48 de Havilland Vampire F.3 markings and National Insignias masking set from the Dead Design brand is meant for spraying the markings and the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Dead Design brand in 1:48 scale. According to the name it covers other markings alongside the national insignia, so it is aimed at the surface graphics of the model rather than at masking the cockpit. The markings are not stuck on but sprayed in paint through a mask - so no carrier film of a decal is left on the surface.
The Vampire F.3 carried its markings on the fuselage nacelle, on the wing and on the tail surfaces; squadron and identification markings were added to those. The layout across two tail booms and a short nacelle means that sprayed graphics reach places where a larger decal would settle badly.
With multi-color markings the order of the coats decides. Spraying goes from the lightest shade to the darkest, with full drying between coats, otherwise the mask will stick to a soft film and tear it away. Lay each further mask by the shape already sprayed rather than by the original line - even a small deviation shows in the overlap as a visible overhang. A proven safety step: spray lightly over the stuck-down mask in the base shade first. Any bleed then happens in the same color as the surroundings and the next coat already has the edge sealed. Before all of that, the surface has to be smooth, free of dust and fully cured.
The set holds masks only. The model, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
