The Gunze curved diamond file has a curved working face that follows hollow and rounded places, where a straight file would only take the high spots off.
Responsibility details are not available.
A straight file has a fundamental disadvantage on rounded shapes: it touches the surface at a single point and levels the area into a facet instead of a curve. A curved working part settles that problem, because it follows the curve of the part. The diamond form also means abrasive grain bonded on instead of cut teeth, so the tool can handle materials on which a steel file slides.
Within the same range the diamond forms are told apart above all by grit and by the size of the working part. On this piece the distinguishing feature is the shape, that is the curvature. It does not compete with the fine straight files that finish a flat surface but adds to them the ability to work on a curve. In practice the two types take turns according to which part of the model you are on.
For a modeler who builds aircraft, ships and other subjects with a large share of rounded shapes and wants to avoid flat spots being left on a curved surface after filing.
Do not inhale the dust from filing resin or metal; work in a ventilated space. Clean the diamond face gently, as coarse mechanical cleaning would ruin it.
