A yellow dipping ink from the Green Stuff World brand in a bottle of 60 ml. It belongs among the products that are applied generously over a whole part and leave the rest of the work to the shape of the surface. Yellow is one of the lightest tones in this group, so the resulting shadow is warm and subtle rather than dramatic.
A wash is used deliberately. It is carried into a chosen groove or joint, brings out a particular detail and the surrounding area stays as it was. A dipping ink, by contrast, is laid over the whole surface. Within a moment it sorts itself out: it slides down off the raised places and gathers in the recesses, where it is then more saturated and darker. In a single pass you therefore get both a toned surface and a finished shadow, without drawing it by hand.
For anyone who wants to bring out relief but does not want to reach for a dark shadow. A yellow tone finds use on light areas, on fantasy figures and everywhere the depth is only to be suggested.
