The plastic kit Italeri 1:48 MiG-27/MiG-23BN Flogger offers a build of the Soviet variable-geometry fighter-bomber in two versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Italeri lets you build the variable-geometry fighter-bomber in either the MiG-27 or MiG-23BN version. The model depicts the movable wing and extensive underwing armament; the decals offer several markings.
The MiG-23 and its strike derivative the MiG-27 were among the typical combat aircraft of the Soviet Air Force and its allies. Versions built for ground attack (the MiG-23BN and MiG-27) had a modified nose with different avionics focused on engaging ground targets. Their defining feature is the variable-geometry wing, which allowed both high speeds and acceptable takeoff and landing characteristics.
Assemble the variable-wing mechanism carefully so the wing moves smoothly. Glue the underwing stores and pylons only after painting. Soviet camouflage and the desert schemes of operators alike stand out well under an airbrush; highlight the panel lines with a restrained wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
