The subject is the Toyota Crown of the S130 generation with the factory code UZS131 in the Royal Saloon G trim level, as it was in 1989. The same version appears in several releases, so choose by the vehicle, the model year and the tuner in the name.
The Crown is the longest-running model line of Toyota and in Japan it represents the traditional executive car. The S130 generation of the late 1980s was built around a longitudinally mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. The UZS131 code points to the version with a UZ series V8 engine, which appeared in the Crown precisely at the end of the 1980s. Royal Saloon G was the highest comfort trim level, that is a car oriented toward quiet running and equipment rather than sporting ambitions.
An executive sedan of that period lives and dies by its chrome trim. Without it a model looks poor, and with untidy chrome it looks shoddy. If you paint the trim yourself, use a stiff paint and a straight edge, drawing the brush always in one direction along the trim. A more elegant and cleaner result comes from metallic self-adhesive foil, which you lay over the edge, trace with a scalpel and then pull the excess off. Chrome-plated parts in kits tend to have parting lines on their mating surfaces, which have to be removed before you glue them on, otherwise they will not seat. Chrome is also hard to glue, so scrape the plating lightly off the area to be glued.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
