An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Aoshima in 1:24 scale. The subject is the Nissan Skyline 2000GT of the GC110 series of 1972. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents of the package are given in the instructions in the box. Several versions of the Skyline of this generation exist, so when choosing go by the particular designation of the vehicle, the year and any tuner given in the name.
The Skyline generation with the C110 code was introduced in 1972 and in Japan it acquired a nickname referring to the couple from the advertising campaign of the time. The 2000GT version with the GC110 designation was one of the six-cylinder guises of the line and, together with the sharper variants, became one of the icons of Japanese motoring of the 1970s. Its hallmarks are the rounded fenders, the round tail lights and the long nose typical of the period.
Older molds often show more pronounced parting seams and fine sink marks that have to be leveled before painting. The best service is done by filler primer sprayed in two coats and sanded wet with paper of around 2000 grit. Only onto a base prepared like that should the paint go, in thin coats with a few minutes between them. The glossy shades of the 1970s show to advantage after clear coat, under which the decals belong as well. Before you start polishing, let the finish cure for at least several days.
