An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The subject is the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-E S of the HGC211 series of 1979. The model is intended to be assembled and painted; the contents of the package are given in the instructions in the box. Several versions of the Skyline of this period exist, so when choosing watch the particular designation of the vehicle, the model year and any tuner.
The Skyline generation of the C210 series, put on the market from 1977, is known in Japan under a nickname referring to the advertising campaign of the time. The 2000 GT-E S version was a better-equipped six-cylinder guise with fuel injection, which the letter in the designation points to. The angular body with its sharp lines is a typical expression of Japanese design of the late 1970s and places the vehicle among the sought-after classics.
An angular body is rewarding for practicing polishing, because it has large flat areas and clearly defined edges. After painting and applying the decals, spray clear coat and let it cure properly, ideally for a week. Then sand the surface wet with very fine paper and work from a coarser polish to the finest paste. On the edges and the lips reduce the pressure markedly, because that is where the finish rubs through most easily. If orange peel appears, it is precisely this step-by-step procedure that is the way to remove it without repainting the whole thing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
