Hawker Tempest 3D full-color Instrument Panel 1:32 from the firm Kits-World is a full-color instrument panel with a relief, printed on decal paper and applied with water.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is intended for modelers who are building a large model and want legible full-color instruments in the cockpit without hand-painting the dials. The printing is layered, so once applied the panel is not flat: the frames have an edge and are shaded in a cockpit. It is applied with water like a decal, not with glue.
The Hawker Tempest is a British single-seat fighter aircraft from the late phase of the Second World War, following on in development from the older types of the same brand. It was built in several guises that differed in the powerplant; the name of the set does not state a particular mark. The cockpit is well open to view with the canopy slid back, which makes the instrument panel a rewarding target for detailing.
The standard procedure is clear: a gloss base, a brief soak in lukewarm water, a rest, sliding it off the paper into place, straightening, drawing the water off, a thin layer of softener and pushing the air out with a cotton swab against silvering. The last phase, though, cannot be rushed. Let the panel dry for several hours and only then handle the part; a damp film is easily shifted or torn at the touch of tweezers and a repair is no longer possible. Before the final matte varnish comes, check that the surface is completely dry, as moisture trapped under varnish shows as matte stains. Only after varnishing should you fit the panel into the cockpit and close the fuselage. Anyone who fits the panel earlier risks catching the decal while assembling the other parts.
An accessory for a model, not a kit. A model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
