About product

Display Base for a 1:144 Model: PAG-14 Concrete Slabs

A color printed display base for a model in 1:144 scale, 225 x 225 mm. It shows an airfield surface of PAG-14 pre-stressed concrete slabs, as used and still used in the Soviet Union and Russia, in the Warsaw Pact states and in the People's Republic of China from the early 1970s to the present day. It is a finished base for a model, not a kit and not a decal.

What is printed on the base

The motif is a regular mosaic of rectangular precast slabs laid side by side. Characteristic features of this surface are the distinct joints between the slabs and the differing shades of the individual pieces, because slabs get replaced one at a time in service. Unlike the older hexagonal areas, this is a surface built for jet aircraft and it is therefore suitable for models of present-day machines as well.

How to use the base

  • Under models of jet aircraft of Eastern design in 1:144
  • As a hardstand or taxiway surface in a diorama
  • As a neutral base usable across a wide period for a display case, since the slabs are still in use today
  • As a base for ground vehicles and crew on an airfield surface

Who it is for

For modelers in 1:144 who build aircraft operated from airfields of Eastern design, from the 1970s up to present-day machines. Thanks to its wide span of time it can also be used for a collection in which models from different decades stand side by side.

The base is a separate accessory. The model, figures and other elements of the scene are not included in the package.

FAQ

The name gives a span from the early 1970s to the present day, so it covers both older and current machines.

They are not. This is strictly a printed base to stand a model on. The other elements of the scene have to be obtained separately.

PAG-14 slabs are rectangular precast units laid in a regular mosaic. The older surfaces had a hexagonal grid and were used in an earlier period.

In 1:144 scale 225 mm corresponds to roughly 32 meters, that is an area of about 32 x 32 meters of real surface.
