A large-format printed sheet showing the surface of the 1st Strategic Air Depot of the US Army Air Forces, located at Honington air base in Suffolk, England, in the years 1942 to 1946. It is neither a kit nor a decal but a base for a finished model. The printed area measures 675 x 675 mm and is intended for 1:48 scale.
The motif is tied to a repair and maintenance facility rather than to an operational hardstand. That is exactly what makes it interesting for a modeler, because a depot is a setting in which a scene with vehicles and people has a natural justification. The period 1942 to 1946 also determines the choice of machines: propeller aircraft from the second half of the war and from the first postwar years.
With this motif, completing the scene makes more sense than on an ordinary parking area. A group of mechanics, a maintenance platform, drums or crates of parts will turn a model into a tableau of maintenance work. Arrange the accessories so that a legible activity arises, that is three figures at one place on the aircraft rather than scattered across the whole area. The model, figures and vehicles are not included here; you obtain them as separate sets.
This is a printed base for a model. The model, figures and vehicles are not included.
