Dornier Do 335B-6 masking set, 1:32 (HGW)

This is an accessory to a kit, not an aircraft model. The set holds painting masks cut to the shape of the glazing and of other areas of the Dornier Do 335B-6 model in 1:32 scale. The two-seat version has more frames and transitions than the single-seater, so masking it by hand with tape is slow and prone to inaccuracy.

Use

• Clean and degrease the glazing before masking, because a mask will not hold on a greasy surface.
• Transfer the masks with tweezers and press them down all around the frame.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, preferably with an airbrush.
• Lift the mask off as soon as the paint has set, while the layer is still flexible.

The real subject

The Dornier Do 335 was a German aircraft from the end of the Second World War with an unusual arrangement of two engines in tandem, one at the front with a tractor propeller and the other behind the cockpit with a pusher propeller. The B-6 version was a two-seat night fighter variant with radar and a second crew member. Only a handful were completed, so the model remains a marginal but technically interesting type among collectors.
