DISS-15 container for the Mi-8MT and Mi-17 in 1:48 scale is a small resin accessory for the helicopter model. It replaces the simplified cover of the Doppler navigation set with a more faithfully shaped casting.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone resin accessory for a helicopter model, not a model as such. It holds the cover of the DISS-15 Doppler navigation set, in other words the conspicuous aerodynamic teardrop that machines of the Mi-8MT and Mi-17 families carry on the underside of the tail. The part is prepared for 1:48 scale.
The DISS-15 cover has a softly rounded shape with a crisp transition into the skin, and detail of just that kind tends to be simplified on mass-produced plastic parts. A resin casting is made in a single-piece mold, so no parting line runs across the visible surface and the edges stay legible even under a coat of paint. On the tail of a helicopter this is a clearly visible spot whose accurate shape even a layman will notice.
Separate it from the casting block with a cut from a thin saw or a sharp cutter, rinse it in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent stays on the surface, and let it dry thoroughly. It can be fitted in place of the original part, and cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) holds the joint reliably. It pays to lay primer under resin, as the covering coat then holds far better than it does directly on a smooth casting.
