A resin casting from the Voran! figure line of the Polish maker PANZER ART. It represents the loader of the crew of the StuG assault gun and is meant for dioramas, vignettes and for bringing a vehicle kit in 1:35 to life. It is not a vehicle kit but a separate figure.
Execution and material
The casting is of modeling resin, which, unlike injection-molded plastic, holds the sharp edges of the folds of the clothing as well as the fine texture of the cloth and the equipment. The figure is supplied on casting blocks and with mold seam lines that are removed before building. According to the name the figure is captured in a working pose, so it suits an open hatch or an arrangement with further figures.
Building and painting tips
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap first, so that the remains of mold release agent disappear, or the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a knife and level the face with a file; sand the resin wet and protect your breathing. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate), fill the seams with filler and sand them over. A thin coat of primer follows, then the base shades of the clothing and the skin. Bring the folds out with a dark wash and the edges and the raised places with a fine dry brush or a lightened shade. In closing, knock the gloss down with a matte clear coat; the leather and the metal parts of the equipment may be left slightly glossy for contrast.
