1:35 Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. J to M turret mantlet with the KwK 39 L/60 gun is a turned barrel with a turret shield for the 1:35 model of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank from PANZER ART. An accessory to a kit, not a model.

The set replaces the turret shield and the long barrel of the 5 cm KwK 39 L/60 gun on a Pz.Kpfw. III kit. The turned barrel has a perfectly straight axis and an open muzzle; on long thin barrels this shows most, because the plastic part sags and the parting line is hard to sand off a cylindrical surface. This is not a tank kit, the model is bought separately.
The 5 cm KwK 39 gun with its L/60 barrel length replaced the shorter L/42 version on the Pz.Kpfw. III and noticeably improved penetration. It was carried by the later versions designated Ausf. J to M, on which the gun mounting and the shape of the turret shield also changed. For a model this means that the long barrel and the matching mantlet are the quickest visual clue to the late production stage.
Cut the original mantlet away and level the mating surface. Wash the resin in warm water with dish soap, degrease the metal and glue it with super glue, ideally the gel kind, so that there is time to align the barrel axis. After priming, paint the barrel together with the vehicle, but allow for a slightly faded shade. Pick out the edges on the shield, leave the muzzle a matte dark tone and dust the bottom with pigments.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
