An accessory from the Polish manufacturer PANZER ART for the American M4 Sherman medium tank in the version with the 105 mm howitzer, in 1:35 scale. It replaces the gun mantlet together with the barrel. A short howitzer has a completely different silhouette from an ordinary long gun, so it is one of the features by which the support version is recognized at first glance.
Shermans with the 105 mm howitzer served as support machines in tank battalions. Their task was not to destroy enemy tanks but to break up fortifications, artillery positions and buildings, and to fire indirectly when needed. The short barrel with its low muzzle velocity was enough for exactly that and at the same time allowed a heavy high-explosive shell to be carried.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. Try the fit in the turret dry and bond with super glue. Bring the cast texture out with a dark wash and dry brushing. Darken the muzzle of the short barrel and keep the transition to the mantlet clean, because that is exactly where the impression of the whole assembly is decided.
The set is an accessory to a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
