PANZER ART 1:35 mantlet and gun barrel for the Churchill Mk VII

An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from the PANZER ART brand. On a model of the British infantry tank Churchill in the Mk VII version, the set replaces the front mantlet of the turret together with the barrel of the 75 millimeter gun. The result is a sharper cast surface and a straight barrel with no parting line that would otherwise have to be laboriously sanded away. The tank kit is not included in the package. On the Churchill the turret mantlet is a prominent part with a silhouette of its own on a finished model.

The real subject

The Churchill was a British infantry tank built for toughness, not for speed. The Mk VII version was given heavier armor and a 75 millimeter gun, that is, a weapon able to fire both armor-piercing and high-explosive ammunition, which suited an infantry tank. It was the Churchills, famous for their ability to master terrain other tanks could not manage, that served in Normandy and in Italy.

Use

• cut off the original plastic mantlet and barrel and sand the area flat
• fit the parts dry and check that the barrel is in line with the turret
• glue with cyanoacrylate, which holds best on a joint between different materials
• wash the parts before painting and give them a primer, otherwise the paint may not hold
• fit the barrel at the end of the build, so that it is not damaged while handling

The set is intended for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
