A set of cast spare road wheels for the American M4 Sherman medium tank with the late HVSS suspension, in 1:35 scale. The package contains two pieces. These are not wheels for the running gear but spare parts that crews carried fixed to the hull and that at the same time served as improvised add-on protection.
The late Sherman suspension with horizontally mounted springs meant wider tracks, better ride and at the same time a new shape of road wheel. Spare wheels were commonly carried on the vehicles: they were heavy, hard to come by and the crew preferred to have them close. In period photographs they are visible on the sides and the front of the hull all the time.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. Paint the wheels separately before you seat them. Spare parts on the hull tend to be worn differently from those in the running gear: less dirtied with mud, but more scuffed from handling. Suggest the mounting with thin wire or a strip of foil, so that they do not look merely glued on.
The set is an accessory to a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
