The penultimate grade of the grid, 1.1 mm across the faces. A dimension for the heavier joints on the frame and on the engine mounting, complemented by a wide washer.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eleven tenths of a millimeter already looks hefty on a model and is used where it should be apparent at first glance that the joint is carrying something. The low profile of the head is kept, so the part does not project above the surrounding surfaces more than is healthy, and the wide washer beneath it widens the mating surface.
A real motorcycle does not have all its bolts the same, and a model should not have them the same either. A good layout tends to be one in which the load-bearing joints get this dimension, the ordinary covers the middle grade of the grid and the small mountings the smallest size. Three grades manage to cover the whole machine and the differences between them read well at close quarters.
The order of the steps stays the same as with the other sizes: hole, paint, varnish, and only then metal. With this dimension it is worth checking as well whether enough material is left behind the face of the part. A thicker shank will not go all the way into a thin wall and the head would then stand askew. The back of a thin wall can be reinforced beforehand with an offcut of styrene profile, glued on from inside, which gives the bit the support it needs.
