A figure of a present-day soldier in 1:35 scale from the Czech brand Black Dog, which has long specialized in accessory sets and figures cast in modeling resin. It is not a vehicle kit: the figure serves as an accessory for a vehicle model or as part of a diorama. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and it is the first of a range of single soldiers that also includes two multi-figure sets.
A resin casting allows finer and sharper detail than injection-molded plastic can manage, which with figures shows mainly on the face, on the folds of the gear and on small items of equipment. In return the material is more brittle, it cannot be bonded with plastic cement and it calls for somewhat more careful preparation.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent so that the mold release agent is removed from the surface, as the primer will otherwise not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a fine knife, never snap them off. Sand wet and wear respiratory protection, because resin dust must not be inhaled. It is bonded with super glue, and a two-part epoxy helps on larger joints. Apply the primer in a thin coat before painting so that the detail is not clogged. Skin and gear are modeled best by gradual shading and highlighting; for camouflage patterns reach for fine brushes and thin the paint.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base are not included in the package.
