This resin conversion set from the manufacturer Wolfpack makes it possible to build a model of the C-130H Hercules transport aircraft in the configuration used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, JASDF for short. The set replaces or supplements selected parts of the base plastic kit with features matching the Japanese machines. The set is intended for Italeri kits.
Note: this is not a kit of the aircraft. Without a base model of the Hercules in 1:72 scale you will not make use of the set. A conversion is more demanding than ordinary detailing sets, because it usually calls for work on the plastic parts.
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing and a rear cargo ramp, built in many versions and operated by dozens of countries. The C-130H version is one of the most widespread. The Japanese machines differ from those of other operators in details of equipment and above all in their finish, so a model built straight from the box of an ordinary kit would not match the Japanese original in every respect.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and true the surface up by sanding wet with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), as a cement for plastic models has no effect on resin. On a conversion it pays to try the parts dry first and only then cut into the plastic. Before painting, apply a primer, which will at the same time reveal imperfect transitions between the resin and the plastic. Spray the large surfaces of the Hercules with an airbrush in thin coats, as a uniform shade is harder to keep watch over on a model of this size.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The set is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
