A ship model of the destroyer Buyny in 1:100 scale. A large scale in which the layout of the deck and the small fittings stand out.
Responsibility details are not available.
A destroyer is among the smallest vessels that count as warships. It is built above all for speed and for the armament a light hull can carry: rapid-fire guns, torpedo tube mounts and depth charges. In a fleet formation it filled the duties of escort, reconnaissance and rapid attack, so it got into most of the naval encounters of the twentieth century. The name Buyny was borne by vessels of the Russian Navy. The closer identification of the subject, that is, the period and the form of the armament, is given in the maker's instructions.
The 1:100 scale is a large one for ships. Even a smaller warship comes out in it at a length that asks for room of its own on a shelf, but in exchange the layout of the deck, the individual superstructures and the small fittings that merge together in smaller scales are visible on the model. A large model also forgives fewer inaccuracies, so it pays to watch the uprightness of the masts and the parallelism of the railings.
Wash and degrease the parts before gluing, so that no greasy film from production is left on them. Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder down with fine abrasive paper; choose the glue according to the material of the parts and go through the procedure in the maker's instructions. The hull gains depth when you ruffle the base shade with lighter patches and accentuate the edges finely. Paint the waterline only once the hull is dry and lead the masking tape along a straight edge. Keep the dirtying in check: rusty traces belong at the anchors, the hawses and the drains, not along the whole side.
The model will please collectors of warships who want a piece with a striking shape in a display case, and modelers who like setting vessels into their own water scene on a board. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
