1:100 Nashorn German Tank Destroyer

Zvezda 1:100 Nashorn: German tank destroyer

A plastic kit of the German Nashorn self-propelled tank destroyer (Sd.Kfz. 164) in 1:100 scale from Zvezda. The model is designed as a snap-fit kit, so the parts click together with no need for glue, which makes it a quick and easy build. It is part of the Art of Tactic system, which usually comes with a game card and a flag for a turn-based war game set in the Second World War.

The real subject

The Nashorn was a German heavy tank destroyer fielded from 1943. On a chassis derived from the Panzer III and IV tanks it carried the powerful 88 mm PaK 43 anti-tank gun, with which it could destroy Allied tanks at long range. The open fighting superstructure meant rapid fire but weak protection for the crew.

Building and painting tips

Thanks to the snap-fit design even a beginner can manage the build; the joints can still be spot glued for strength. The model is worth painting with an airbrush in German camouflage schemes, and the running gear and the superstructure can be treated with washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.

Who the model is for

• Players of the Art of Tactic war game and collectors of vehicles in 1:100 scale
• Beginners, thanks to the simple build with no glue
• Modelers building Second World War dioramas in a small scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
