An accessory from the Polish manufacturer Aber for models of the Panzer IV medium tank in 1:35 scale. It is a turned metal barrel in the version without a muzzle brake, intended to replace the plastic part from the kit. The model itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
The 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun with a barrel length of 48 calibers was the main armament of the later versions of the Panzer IV and in modeling practice it is tied precisely to the Ausf. G, H and J versions given in the name. The version without a muzzle brake corresponds to examples on which the brake was absent; when building a particular vehicle it therefore pays to compare the barrel with the documentation for the series in question, because the shape of the muzzle and the brake is one of the most conspicuous recognition features of the type.
Cut the plastic barrel off so that a straight and perpendicular seating diameter is left, or level it with a file. Degrease the metal part with alcohol before gluing and fit it dry, so the axis of the barrel sits right relative to the gun mantlet. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Metal holds paint less well than plastic, so use a primer suitable for metal and let it cure properly. The advantage of a turned part is a perfectly round cross-section and an open muzzle with no need to drill.
