A kit of the Japanese destroyer Kagero in 1:350 scale, supplemented with crew figures and etched parts. The lead ship of her class from the fighting in the Pacific.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kagero gave her name to a whole class of destroyers of the Imperial Japanese Navy, designed in the second half of the 1930s. These were fast ocean-going ships built for night torpedo combat alongside the main forces of the fleet. The main gun armament consisted of guns of 12.7 centimeters caliber in twin turrets, but the main weapon was torpedo tube mounts of 61 centimeters caliber with oxygen-propelled torpedoes, which had a markedly greater range than those of the opponents of the day. Ships of this class served from the beginning of the war in the Pacific, escorted the carrier striking group and carried a large part of the night clashes around the Solomon Islands. The Kagero herself was lost in 1943 in precisely these waters.
The kit captures the ship in 1:350 scale, that is at a size at which really fine detail can be worked out on the hull. According to the name, crew figures and etched parts are included in the package as well.
Separate the etched parts on a hard board and bend them along a metal rule or in a bending tool; they hold with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, wash and degrease the whole. Paint the figures in this scale in groups and rather by suggestion, because sharp contrast on them looks coarse. Check the extent of the photo-etch and the recommended shades in the manufacturer's instructions.
For modelers with a relationship to naval subjects and to the Japanese fleet of the Second World War. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
