Injection-molded plastic kit of the Ducati Desmosedici racing motorcycle in GP4 specification for the 2004 MotoGP season, in 1:12 scale. The assembled model measures 173 mm. Cartograf decals let you build the machine of Loris Capirossi with number 65 or Troy Bayliss with number 12, and separate parts give each rider his own seat. At the sponsor's request the white decals with advertising markings are not in the package.
The Desmosedici is the machine with which Ducati entered the premier MotoGP class after it moved to four-stroke engines. The name comes from the desmodromic valve train and sixteen valves: the engine is a V-four with a 90 degree angle, mounted longitudinally, and its power and sound put it among the best of the field at the time. The frame is a steel tube trellis, which is typical of Ducati, and the rear swingarm mounts directly to the crankcase. In the 2004 season the machine was ridden by Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss.
Work in subassemblies: engine and frame, then the wheels, and the bodywork last. The throttle, clutch and brake lines are in the package as plastic tubing; route them according to the instructions while you can still reach them. Ducati red wants a glossy surface, so use a white base coat, thin coats of paint and a clear coat in which the decals disappear. Mask the glossy and chrome-plated parts, because the clear coat will dull them. The tires are rubber, smooth like racing slicks, and ordinary cement for plastic will not bond them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
