This set from the Japanese brand Tamiya serves to upgrade the front fork of a model of the Yamaha YZR-M1 racing motorcycle of the 2009 season in 1:12 scale realistically. It contains turned metal and precision parts that replace the plastic sections from the standard kit and give the fork the shine and the strength of metal that cannot be achieved by painting alone. It is not a standalone model: it is an upgrade intended to be built into a matching motorcycle model.
The metal inner and outer fork tubes faithfully imitate the chromed and aluminum surfaces of the real machine. A movable steering damper is usually included as well, so that the result looks mechanically accurate. The metal parts also raise the durability of the stressed sections of the model.
Degrease the metal surfaces before gluing and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect the polished surfaces from fingerprints and unmask them before varnishing. Follow the building sequence of the base model: the set replaces the corresponding plastic parts.
This is an accessory set, not a motorcycle model. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
