Dual Exo 2B Pluto Stone, acrylic paint, 60 ml

An acrylic paint from the AK interactive brand, from the Dual Exo range, in a 60 ml container. The shade carries the name Pluto Stone and dries to a satin, that is semi-gloss, finish. The name of the shade is poetic and does not in itself say which tone the paint falls into, so compare the resulting tone with the manufacturer's color chart.

Preparing the surface decides the result

With acrylic on plastic, the larger part of the work happens before the bottle is even opened. It is good to clear the parts of grease and fingerprints, sand down the mold seams and the marks left by the sprue gates, and then apply a base coat. A primer unifies the base, reveals the imperfections that would otherwise hide under the paint, and above all improves the adhesion of the later coats. On a smooth, unified base a satin finish looks markedly better than on an uneven surface, because it is precisely a semi-gloss that will reveal every scratch and greasy mark.

Use

• Degrease the parts before painting and let them dry completely.
• Shake the paint for a good while before use, as the pigment settles when standing.
• Apply in thin coats with a brush or an airbrush, as a thick coat will fill the detail in.
• Choose the thinner and the cleaner according to the recommendation for acrylic paints of the range.
• Let the coat cure thoroughly before masking, not just dry to the touch.

Who the paint is for

For modelers who want a shade with a ready semi-gloss and do not want to tune the surface with further varnishing. The 60 ml volume makes sense where the same tone recurs on several models or over larger areas.
