An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker aerial tanker in 1:144 scale by Academy. The model captures the upgraded version of the tanker with new engines. The package offers finely engraved panel lines, the characteristic refueling boom under the tail and decals with two marking options for US Air Force machines.
The Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker is a four-engine aerial tanker that appeared at the beginning of the jet transport era and serves to refuel combat and transport aircraft in flight. The KC-135R version received more economical and more powerful engines, which considerably extended its service life and range. Stratotankers still form the backbone of aerial refueling for the US Air Force and its allies.
Use thin cement for plastic; some parts are designed for easy joining, yet on visible seams glue and filler still pay off. Add the refueling boom and the landing gear separately. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush; with metallic and gray schemes take care to get a smooth, polished surface. It is a good idea to mask the cockpit glazing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
