The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a heavy transport helicopter with two counter-rotating tandem rotors, in service since the 1960s and still being upgraded. It carries troops, equipment and slung loads and is among the most capable machines of its class. It is operated by a number of the world's armed forces, among them the American, British, Korean and Japanese ones.
