A sheet of water-slide decals in 1:144 scale intended for marking a finished model of the Embraer 170 regional jet in the livery of the Polish carrier LOT. It is an accessory, not a kit: you obtain the model itself, the paints, the varnish and a decal softener separately. The decals are released from the backing paper after a short soak in lukewarm water.
The Embraer 170 is a Brazilian twin-engine regional jet from the E-Jet family, which entered service in the middle of the first decade of this century. Compared with older regional machines it brought a wider fuselage with four-abreast seating and a single aisle, so the comfort of large aircraft is not lost in the cabin. The engines are hung under the wing, and the conventional tail surfaces with the horizontal surface on the fuselage give the aircraft an unmistakable silhouette compared with older regional types, which had their engines at the rear. The E-Jet family spread quickly across Europe and the Americas and became the backbone of the commuter and regional networks of a number of large carriers.
The base has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise air is trapped under the carrier film and a silvery veil appears around the decal. Cut the subject out close to the printing, soak it for ten to thirty seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest until it floats freely on the paper. Settle it on a drop of water, line it up against the engraved lines and press the excess water out with a soft brush from the center to the edges. The long bands along the fuselage are safer divided into shorter sections. Apply the decal softener only onto a settled decal and let it dry undisturbed; the film will draw itself into the panel gaps and over the outlines of the doors. Finally spray the whole model with a clear coat, which visually hides the edges of the film.
This is a standalone decal sheet, not a kit. The model of the aircraft, paints, varnish and a decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
