An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:144 scale from Trumpeter. This two-seat machine with variable-geometry wings is one of the icons of the Cold War. In the small 1:144 scale it suits a collection of naval fighters.
The F-14 Tomcat was a twin-engined two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy, in service from the 1970s. It stood out for its variable-geometry (variable-sweep) wings and a powerful radar which, together with long-range guided missiles, made it possible to engage targets at great distances. The F-14A version was the basic production variant and served to defend the carrier groups as well as for other tasks.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic; if the kit allows movable wings, do not glue those joints and dry-fit the mechanism first. Glue the cockpit glazing with canopy glue so that it stays clear, and paint both cockpits before closing the fuselage. Assemble the pylons and guided missiles separately. After the gloss varnish and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
