The set contains resin underwing armament for a model of the British vertical takeoff aircraft Harrier in the GR7 and GR9 versions in 1:144 scale. It is an accessory to an existing kit, not a model of an aircraft. Kits in this small scale either do not include underwing armament at all or render it only as suggested shapes, and yet it is precisely the armament that turns a model into a machine on a particular combat mission instead of an empty airframe.
The Harrier GR7 and the following GR9 were the British attack versions of the Harrier II family, that is, machines capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing. They served as ground attack aircraft supporting land forces and operated from land bases as well as from a deck. They carried their armament on underwing pylons, and the usual combination was bombs, rocket pods and drop tanks according to the type of mission. The GR9 version was a modernization of the GR7, above all in avionics and in the ability to carry newer precision munitions, which widened the range of possible configurations still further.
The parts in 1:144 scale are very small. Work over a surface with a raised edge, use tweezers with a gentle grip and separate the castings from the casting block with a sharp knife or a fine-toothed saw. Limit sanding to the mating surfaces, otherwise the fine edges and the suggested details will be worn away. Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water before painting and spray them with a thin primer. A practical procedure: paint the armament while still on the block, cut it off only just before fitting and bond it with super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick. Before gluing, plan the symmetry on the model, because with small underwing armament any asymmetry shows at once.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
