The Sea Fury was the last piston-engine fighter of the Fleet Air Arm, and the FB.11 version its most widespread configuration. It combined the high speed given by the Bristol Centaurus radial engine with the ability to carry external stores. In the Mediterranean it operated both from the decks of aircraft carriers and from land bases, and in the Middle East the type is also found with air forces that took the machines over after British service ended. Because of the hot and dusty environment, these machines often had a different shade of upper camouflage and finishes that faded faster.
In 1:144 scale the most sensitive parts are the small ones, that is, the landing gear legs, the propeller blades, the arrestor hook and the antennas. Leave them on the sprue as long as possible and cut them off only at the moment you are going to glue them, otherwise they are easily lost or bent. Use a scalpel resting on a surface for cutting, not sprue cutters, which crush thin plastic. Sand the sprue nub down rather than cut it twice. The faded finish typical of hot regions can be suggested by very gently lightening the centers of the surfaces with a lighter shade of the same color and by a light dusty haze on the underside of the fuselage and on the landing gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
