A photo-etched supplementary set in 1:144 scale for a model of the German tailless aircraft Ho 229A. It is worked out for the kit from the Brengun brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Horten Ho 229 was a German tailless aircraft of flying wing layout, developed in the very closing stage of the Second World War and powered by jet engines. It had neither a classic fuselage nor tail surfaces; the whole volume was carried by the lifting surface, which was meant to reduce drag and increase range. Development got no further than prototypes and the machine never reached combat service, yet it is among the most frequently built German projects of the end of the war.
A photo-etched fret with parts in 1:144 scale, worked out for the kit from the Brengun brand. The elements are attached to the fret by thin bridges that are cut through before gluing. The exact extent of the set is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Leave the finest elements in the fret until the moment the build calls for them; a loose part of that size is very hard to find.
In 1:144 scale the parts are very small, so work over a light-colored surface with a rim and use tweezers with fine tips. Separate the parts with a sharp blade rather than by breaking them out, and level the remains of the bridges with an abrasive file plate. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a minute quantity. Before painting, degrease the metal and apply a thin coat of primer.
The set suits modelers who want to replace the thickest plastic parts of a small flying wing model with thin metal and to add details that cannot be made in plastic at that reduction. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
