Brengun 1:144 Ki-44 Shoki is a replacement clear canopy for a plastic kit of the Japanese interceptor, not an aircraft model. The set is intended for the Fujimi kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A separate clear part from the Czech maker Brengun, intended for the Fujimi plastic Ki-44 model. It is not a kit. The accessory addresses one single, but very visible, place on the model: the cockpit.
The Ki-44 Shoki was a Japanese single-engine fighter built for speed and rate of climb, that is for interception against bomber formations. Compared with the Japanese fighters of its day it had a shorter wing and a bulkier fuselage with a radial engine, which gave it a characteristically stocky silhouette. Its cockpit with its good visibility is a prominent feature in profile.
On a model in a display case the cockpit is the first place the eye falls. An injected clear part in 1:144 scale tends to be thick, to carry mold marks and to have a milky cast, so the interior under it disappears. A thin drawn canopy lets more light through, so even a modestly equipped cockpit is visible, and it also serves as a replacement when the original part is damaged, fogs up from glue or simply vanishes into the carpet.
Before you start, finish and paint everything that is to be seen under the canopy. Then trace the part with a marker, cut it out roughly and sand it on fine abrasive paper until it sits exactly. Fingerprints will not come off the material later, so handle the part through a piece of paper. The shine comes back with a brief dip in a gloss acrylic varnish and slow drying in a dust-free place.
The part is an accessory to a plastic kit, which it does not include. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
