The New Ware 1:144 Mask Antonov An-225 Mriya ENGINES is a self-adhesive cut mask set aimed at the engine nacelles of the giant transport aircraft. It replaces the slow trimming of masking tape and helps toward sharp color transitions.
Responsibility details are not available.
Cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer New Ware, tailored to one specific Revell kit. The set concentrates on the engine nacelles, that is on the places where several areas of color meet on a markedly curved surface on large transport aircraft. That is exactly where a decal often causes trouble: it silvers, breaks up over an edge and its glossy border shows once it has dried. Paint sprayed under a mask has none of those problems.
The An-225 Mriya is a transport aircraft from the Antonov design bureau, powered by six D-18T turbofan engines. It was created as a carrier for exceptionally large loads and only a single example was completed. Even reduced to 1:144 it is a model with a large span that takes up a fair piece of a display case and draws attention.
Keep the sheet in its wrapping until you spray so that it does not gather dust. Lift the individual pieces off with flat-jawed tweezers, lay them on a dry and degreased surface and press them down with a toothpick so that the edge beds down along its whole length. Spray in thin coats. A heavy coat of paint builds a ridge at the edge of the mask that stays visible once it is removed. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at a shallow angle toward yourself. Keep the rest of the sheet; it comes in handy for small extra masking.
This is not an airplane model or a kit. It is a masking accessory for the build; the paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
