An injection-molded plastic kit of the Douglas VC-118 long-range transport aircraft in 1:144 scale from Roden. The model is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted set, with parts in gray plastic, clear windows and a decal sheet. This particular variant captures the VIP machine used for carrying the head of state, with the name The Independence.
The VC-118 was the military transport and VIP version of the Douglas piston airliner derived from the civil DC-6 type. It was powered by four radial engines and, thanks to its great range, it suited long-haul flights. The aircraft The Independence served as the personal machine of the President of the United States and is among the historically remembered machines of its era.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Sand the joints of the fuselage and the wings carefully for the sake of the smooth metal finish. Fit the windows only after the clear coat, and lay the decals on a gloss base so that they settle without silvering. The characteristic decoration of the nose will stand out once the decals are transferred carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
