The corrective casting 1:48 Mil Mi-8MT/Mi-17 – correction of the fuel tank rear from Quickboost puts the shape of the side tank end right.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Quickboost deals with a single but visible problem: the shape of the rear part of the side fuel tanks on Mi-8MT and Mi-17 models. The original part is replaced by a casting with a more accurate outline. The package contains a resin component; the helicopter itself you obtain separately.
The tanks hang on both sides of the fuselage at the viewer's eye level and their ends form one of the lines by which the eye judges whether a model looks right. An inaccurately shaped tank end spoils the impression even on an otherwise carefully built machine, because it is compared with the neighboring outline of the fuselage. A replacement casting removes the problem without cutting into the whole structure.
Helicopters of the Hip family carry their fuel outside the fuselage in a pair of longitudinal tanks attached to the sides. The Mi-8MT build and its export form, the Mi-17, received a more powerful engine installation and a reworked tail; the type still serves with dozens of armed forces and in civil operation today. The differences between the individual tank series are a common source of inaccuracy on models, because the shape of the end changed during production and a kit captures only one form.
