1:16 Idler wheels for the Pz.III / StuG III, a resin set (Firma49)

This is not a kit but an add-on resin set. It contains idler wheels in 1:16 scale for models on the chassis of the German Pz.Kpfw. III and of the StuG III assault gun. The idler wheel sits at the rear of the running gear and keeps the track at the right tension; an accurate resin casting captures the spokes and the profile of the disc better than simplified base parts.

The real subject

On the chassis of the Pz.III and the derived StuG III the idler wheel keeps the track running and its shape is conspicuous for the credibility of a large-scale model. In 1:16 every detail of the surface and of the lightening of the disc stands out.

Use and tips

• A replacement of the plastic idler wheels with more detailed resin ones.
• Wash the mold release agent off and cut the casting blocks off carefully.
• They are bonded with super glue; watch the alignment and the plane with the track.
