The M3 was an American half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War. At the rear it was carried by a tracked suspension and at the front by an ordinary axle with wheels on tires, and it was precisely this combination that gave the vehicle its characteristic silhouette. The M3A1 is a later variant of the same machine. Vehicles of this family served the Allies on every front and were used to carry infantry, as a tractor and as a chassis for a whole range of further conversions.
These are replacement front wheels in 1:16 with a weighted tire, that is with the deformation that appears under the weight of the vehicle. The number in the name sets this set apart from the other variants of the same range, and the name ties it to kits listed under the AHHQ designation. In 1:16 a wheel is a large and conspicuous part that the viewer has in sight all the time, so the difference between a perfectly round tire and one settled onto the ground shows on it most.
The flattening has to point down toward the ground, otherwise the whole effect loses its point, so try the position of the wheels dry on a flat board before gluing. Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder down, so that the tread is not disturbed. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts, choose the glue according to the material given on the package and the particular procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not spray the tires pure black, because a muted dark gray looks truer in scale. Set the wheel apart from the tire in color and mask its edge while spraying.
The wheels alone are supplied. The kit of the vehicle, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
