An injection-molded plastic figure of an American tank crewman of the Second World War period in the large 1:16 scale from Classy Hobby. The large 1:16 scale allows an exceptionally detailed rendering of the face, the uniform and the equipment. According to the manufacturer's catalog the package offers two variants of headgear, photo-etched parts and decals, so the figure can be treated in two forms.
The crews of American tanks wore characteristically practical equipment during the war: a leather tank helmet, overalls or a jacket and further items adapted to the cramped space of a fighting vehicle. The figure gives a matter-of-fact rendering of a typical member of the armored units and will serve well to bring a diorama to life or as an accessory to a tank model in the same scale.
Clean the parts of flash, glue them with a thin cement for plastic and fill the seams. In the large 1:16 scale painting the face comes out well: work with layering of flesh tones, shadows and highlights. Pick the uniform out with dry brushing and a fine wash, and paint the equipment separately. Before painting, treat the figure with primer, ideally sprayed on.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
