Rubble Seal Roller is an impression roller with a pattern of rubble and ruins from the manufacturer U-STAR. It serves to transfer a texture onto the surface of a future diorama quickly and evenly.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling tool for building dioramas from the manufacturer U-STAR. The roller carries a raised pattern of ruins and rubble around its circumference. Running it over a surface impresses the pattern repeatedly, so a continuous surface with an even texture appears. It is not a compound or a finished piece of a scene but an aid with which you create the texture yourself and to any extent you like.
The texture is created at the moment the surface being worked is still pliable. The roller is run in a smooth movement and with even pressure, so that the impression comes out equally deep along its whole length. It pays to work in strips and to join them so that the transitions are not noticeable. Before you set about the scene itself, make a test impression on an offcut and you will find out what pressure gives the result you like.
The most common mistake is working on a surface that has already started to set: the impression then comes out shallow and the edges tear. The second mistake is running over the same place repeatedly, which smears the pattern and loses its sharpness. Clean the roller after finishing, before the compound in the relief hardens, otherwise the detail of the pattern gets permanently clogged. Against improvised methods, such as pressing crumpled foil into a surface or scoring with a needle, the roller has the decisive advantage that the result is repeatable and the surface reads as consistent.
