A set of sanding tools that the name describes as having five parts and being made for repeated use. Sanding is among the most frequent activities of all on a plastic model: it removes sprue marks and mold parting lines, levels glued seams and prepares a surface for the base color. A set of several tools together makes sense exactly because each of those operations needs a slightly different shape and a different grade.

When you will use the kit

• after a part has been nipped off the sprue, when leveling the sprue remain
• when removing a parting line on the edges of parts

What to watch out for

In sanding it is patience that decides, not force. Take material off a little at a time, keep checking the shape of a part against the light and do not hurry on to a fine grade before the marks of the coarser one have gone. Plastic sands better wet: the abrasive clogs less and makes less dust. After work, degrease the surface and rid it of dust, otherwise the base color will bring it out.
