Foam plugs for the wheel bays for the kit of the EMB-312 Tucano trainer aircraft from Hobby Boss in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Shaped pieces of soft foam that are put into the wheel bays and stop paint getting inside during spraying. Nothing is glued; the plug holds by its own springiness, and once the coat is on it is pulled out and used again. The shape is cut to the outline of the bays of the EMB-312 Tucano kit from Hobby Boss in this scale.
Wheel bays are painted differently from the skin and tend to be finished before the rest of the model. Masking tape goes badly into a deep irregular cavity and leaves traces of adhesive on detail you will never properly clean again. Foam fills the volume all at once, flows around the internal ribs and leaves no mark.
The Embraer EMB-312 Tucano is a Brazilian turboprop trainer aircraft that first flew in 1980. It brought into basic training an arrangement matching jet machines: two seats one behind the other under a single canopy, ejection seats and an instrument panel ready for the move to combat hardware. The Brazilian Air Force introduced it under the designation T-27 and the machine succeeded in export as well, among other things as the basis of the British license version for the Royal Air Force.
