What metal dishes are for on the desk

A dose of paint is comfortably mixed in a shallow metal dish, parts taken out after degreasing are put aside in one, or a solvent is left in one to evaporate. The drawback is that empty dishes slide about on the worktop and take up room that is short during a build. Stored upright in a holder they take up a fraction of the area and are easily pulled out of it with one hand, while the other holds tweezers or a brush.

Usage tips

• keep the dishes meant for paint apart from those for thinner and cleaning
• let the dishes dry out properly before storing them
• place the holder away from where you spray, so that overspray does not settle into the dishes
• remove residues of dried paint before they build up in layers

Who it suits

It helps above all where several shades are worked with at once and the desk serves as a surface to put things down on too. It is also useful in a small workshop, where the space is shared with another activity and everything has to be cleared away quickly at the end of the evening. Anyone who builds only now and then will get by without it, but with regular work the room saved comes in useful.
