A kit of the American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48, in the color version carried under the name American Beauty.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51D Mustang is an American single-seat fighter from the end of the Second World War and the most widespread version of the whole series. It is powered by a twelve-cylinder V Merlin engine, built under license in the United States, and the armament consists of six heavy machine guns in the wing. The most striking feature of the D version is the teardrop glazing over the lowered spine, which gave the pilot a view to the rear. Thanks to auxiliary fuel tanks the Mustang escorted bomber formations all the way to distant targets, which made it one of the key types of the end of the war.
This is a plastic kit in 1:48, which with single-engine fighters represents a sensible compromise: the model is big enough for a worked-out cockpit and landing gear, and still fits an ordinary display case. The color version is carried under the name American Beauty, that is under the name of a particular machine. The exact number of parts and the contents of the decal sheet are stated by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Finish the cockpit before you glue the fuselage together, and mask the frame of the teardrop canopy before spraying. With glossy metallic surfaces, start from a smooth and flawlessly sanded base, because metallic paints bring out every scratch. You can set the individual panels apart with a slightly different shade of metal, which brings the surface to life. Apply the decals over a gloss base, otherwise matte edges will appear under them.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and putty are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
